Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey continued its extraordinary run at the Czech box office over the weekend, according to the latest figures from the Czech Film Distributors’ Union. After posting the biggest opening weekend of 2026, the epic slipped just 17.2 percent in its second frame, adding another CZK 21.02 million for a remarkable 10-day total of CZK 60.66 million.
The Odyssey now has the top two highest-grossing weekends of 2026 at the Czech box office, with both of its first two weeks surpassing The Devil Wears Prada 2. That is likely to change this weekend, however, with the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day expected to haul in the biggest debut of the year.
The highest-profile new release of the weekend was Czech comedy Bardotky, which officially opened wide after preview screenings last week. Starring Pavlína Pořízková in her first major Czech-language film alongside Dagmar Havlová and Eva Holubová, the comedy debuted with a solid CZK 5.14 million, comfortably landing in second place. The film follows three lifelong friends in their sixties who embark on a series of increasingly chaotic adventures while confronting long-buried secrets.
Universal’s Minions and Monsters remained a major draw despite a 37.5 percent dip in its fourth weekend of release. The animated hit earned another CZK 3.87 million, pushing its cumulative total beyond CZK 50 million. It joins The Odyssey this week among only five 2026 releases to cross that milestone, along with Project Hail Mary, Michael, and The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Disney’s Moana continued to struggle to find momentum. The animated sequel fell another 38.2 percent in its third weekend, taking CZK 2.55 million for a modest running total of CZK 16.71 million. The performance remains well below recent Disney live action remakes, including last year’s Lilo & Stitch, and mirrors the film’s muted box office performance internationally.
Rounding out the top five, Toy Story 5 added CZK 1.93 million in its sixth weekend, dipping just 22.1 percent. Pixar’s sequel has now earned nearly CZK 32 million locally and continues to display strong staying power despite stiff competition from other family releases throughout the summer.
Outside the top five, horror sensation Obsession continued its remarkable run, remaining in sixth place after nine weeks with another CZK 1.12 million. The low-budget thriller has now grossed CZK 33.1 million in Czechia, making it one of the year’s most successful horror releases.
Among a light weekend for new releases, Everything As It Should Be (Mistryně), which premiered in competition at this month’s Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, debuted in 18th place with CZK 163,000. Written and directed by Bohdan Karásek, the intimate Czech drama stars Marie Švestková and Jiří Havelka in a story about former spouses reconnecting during a long walk through Liberec, and is currently screening with English subtitles at Prague’s Kino Světozor, Kino Aero, Kino Lucerna, and Bio Oko.
