Scream 7 (2026)

Czech box office, Feb. 26-March 1: ‘Scream 7’ slashes through the competition

During a down weekend at the Czech box office that saw most holdovers tumble by around 50 percent, Scream 7 won the top spot according to the latest data from the Czech Film Distributors Union. The horror sequel took in only a modest CZK 3.53 million, however, a far cry from top horror performers like The Conjuring: Last Rites, which scared up a CZK 15 million debut last summer.

Worldwide, the Scream sequel made a killing with a franchise-best haul of $97 million (CZK 2 billion), though tepid reviews might limit its long-term potential. The light-ish haul in Czechia is still a franchise best at the local box office, topping the CZK 3.01 million debut for Scream 6 three years back.

Period romance Wuthering Heights, which led the Czech box office last weekend, fell to second place with a CZK 2.70 million haul. The Gothic romance starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as ill-fated lovers Cathy and Heathcliff has now brought in CZK 17.55 million over three weeks of release.

Zootopia 2 also continues to hold strong after 14 weeks of release at the Czech box office. The animated Disney comedy finished third over the past weekend, with CZK 2.06 million bringing its total earnings to an impressive CZK 162 million.

Among other new releases, the Czech comedy Nečekané léto came in fourth with a CZK 1.88 million debut. Director Milan Cieslar’s film stars Barbora Poláková and Jordan Haj in a narrative surrounding family camping in the Czech countryside.

Concert documentary Twenty One Pilots: More Than We Ever Imagined raised CZK 1.21 million to debut in seventh—a better haul than Baz Luhrmann‘s excellent EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, which earned a third of that amount (CZK 421,000) to open in 18th.

The Wizard of the Kremlin earned CZK 545,000 to open in 13th. The political satire, which premiered at last year’s Venice International Film Festival and has yet to see release in the States, stars Paul Dano as a Moscow spin doctor and Jude Law as Vladimir Putin.
