Netflix has released the first official image from its upcoming adaptation of Dan Brown‘s The Secret of Secrets, offering the first look at Morgan Spector as Robert Langdon and Rebecca Hall as Katherine Solomon—and confirming a Prague location documented by The Prague Reporter earlier this week.
The image shows Spector and Hall together outside Prague’s Municipal House (Obecní dům), where production took place on Wednesday. The Prague Reporter photographed the setup at the landmark before and after filming, when extensive production equipment was stationed outside and its two main dining venues were closed for the shoot.
Netflix released the image Friday as it formally announced that production is underway in Prague and revealed several additional cast members. Filming has been taking place across the Czech capital’s historic center over the past week, including locations in Josefov, around Jan Palach Square and on Čechův most, with location production slated to continue in central Prague over the upcoming weeks.
Netflix’s first look comes from Prague’s Municipal House
The first-look image provides an early glimpse of Spector’s interpretation of Langdon, the Harvard symbologist previously portrayed by Tom Hanks in three feature films and Ashley Zukerman in the television series The Lost Symbol.
In Netflix’s first official photo, Spector and Hall are pictured on the sidewalk immediately outside Municipal House, the landmark Art Nouveau building at Náměstí Republiky. The location hosted an extensive shoot Wednesday that included interiors within the building.
The Municipal House Restaurant and Municipal House Café were both closed for filming, while substantial production equipment was positioned outside throughout the day. Firefighters were also present, with hoses deployed around the location, suggesting that pyrotechnics may have been involved in an interior sequence.
The Municipal House sequence is one of several to have been shot in central Prague since cameras began rolling. Production has also been active in Josefov, the city’s historic Jewish Quarter, on Jan Palach Square near the Rudolfinum, and on Čechův most, which crosses the Vltava between the Josefov side of the city and the area below Letná.
Unlike many international projects that use Prague to stand in for another European city, The Secret of Secrets is explicitly set in the Czech capital. Brown’s novel sends Langdon through numerous recognizable Prague locations, including Charles Bridge, the Klementinum, Petřín and Josefov, before its story expands beyond the Czech Republic.
Netflix confirms Rebecca Hall and expands cast
Along with the first image, Netflix has now formally confirmed additional cast members co-starring alongside Spector and Hall. The main cast also includes Cherry Jones as Heide Nagel, Corey Stoll as Everett Finch, Rob Delaney as Jonas Faukman and Abbey Lee as Sasha Vesna.
Netflix has also announced five actors in recurring roles. Mamadou Athie will play Michael Harris, with Ben Levi Ross as Alex Conan, Anamaria Marinca as Dr. Gessner, Richard Sammel as Karl Muller and Elena Saurel as Susan Housemore.
Czech actors and actresses are also expected to appear in smaller roles, though Netflix has not announced any local cast members.
The approximately eight-hour series was created by Brown and Carlton Cuse, with Cuse serving as showrunner and writer. Brown and Cuse executive produce alongside Emma Forman and Zoe Robyn. Netflix ordered the project straight to series in May 2025, several months before Brown’s novel was published.
Spector becomes the third actor to play Langdon on screen. Hanks starred in Ron Howard‘s The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons and Inferno, while Zukerman played a younger Langdon in Peacock’s 2021 adaptation of The Lost Symbol.
The Netflix project also represents an unusually direct connection between Prague and the Langdon franchise. Rather than merely providing production facilities or doubling for another location, the Czech capital is both a primary shooting destination and an integral part of Brown’s story.
Filming is expected to continue in the Czech Republic through upcoming months, with further activity likely to affect locations around central Prague. Netflix has not announced a premiere date for the series, though it can be predicted to hit streaming screens in late 2027 at the earliest.
