The Odyssey returned to the top of the Czech box office over the weekend, narrowly overtaking Spider-Man: Brand New Day after spending the past several weeks in second place. Christopher Nolan’s epic eased just 26.3 percent in its seventh weekend, adding CZK 6.84 million and lifting its cumulative haul to CZK 148.84 million. Its unusually strong staying power has put it within striking distance of Spider-Man, which remains the year’s biggest release with CZK 162.55 million.
After four consecutive weekends at No. 1, Spider-Man: Brand New Day finally relinquished the top spot, though Tom Holland’s latest outing remains a major local success. The Marvel sequel fell 44.1 percent to CZK 6.68 million, just CZK 158,000 behind The Odyssey, and has now attracted nearly 747,000 moviegoers during its five weeks in Czech cinemas. Its CZK 162.55 million total keeps it comfortably ahead of Nolan’s film for now.
The weekend’s biggest surprise came from a movie celebrating its 25th birthday. A rerelease of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone conjured up an impressive CZK 5.53 million from 27,012 admissions to debut in third place. The 2001 fantasy classic, which launched the eight-film Harry Potter series starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, returned to Czech cinemas as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations and came remarkably close to challenging two of 2026’s biggest blockbusters.
PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie continued to prove a reliable late-summer draw for families, dropping 34.8 percent in its fourth weekend to take fourth place with CZK 2.53 million. The animated adventure has now grossed CZK 25.47 million and sold more than 145,000 tickets in Czechia, giving it considerably greater staying power than several other family releases that have passed through cinemas this summer.
Rounding out the top five, Insidious: Out of the Further dropped 48.5 percent following its solid debut last weekend. The sixth installment in the long-running supernatural horror franchise added CZK 1.86 million for a two-week total of CZK 6.94 million, keeping it comfortably ahead of the remainder of the chart despite losing roughly half of its opening-weekend business.
Among the weekend’s other new releases, Czech WWII docudrama Lone Wolf (Osamělý vlk) opened in sixth with CZK 1.13 million following limited previews. Directed by Ondřej Veverka, the film combines dramatized scenes with archival material to tell the story of Czechoslovak fighter ace Josef František, played by Tadeáš Moravec, who became one of the most successful Allied pilots during the Battle of Britain. The film received an additional publicity boost when Czech President Petr Pavel attended its Prague premiere ahead of its Aug. 27 release.
Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars tanked in Czechia as it did worldwide, debuting in eighth place with CZK 1.06 million from 5,666 admissions. Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin star in the post-apocalyptic drama about survivors of a deadly plague fighting to survive in Colorado.
Another familiar title returned to cinemas at No. 9, with Terminator 2: Judgment Day taking CZK 785,000 from 4,030 moviegoers. James Cameron’s 1991 sci-fi landmark, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and Edward Furlong, continues to prove its theatrical appeal more than three decades after its original release, earning more over the weekend than a number of current releases.
Further down the chart, GHOST: 2 BIG TO RIG entered at No. 14 with CZK 458,000 from 1,183 admissions, bringing its cumulative earnings including earlier screenings to CZK 693,000. The supplied distributor chart does not provide additional information about the release.
Finally, the new Czech comedy Dokonalý den moved into the Top 20 at No. 16 ahead of its wider release next week, earning CZK 372,000 through preview screenings over the weekend and CZK 487,000 to date.
