Adam Sandler has landed in Prague to shoot ‘Spaceman’

Hollywood star Adam Sandler is now in Prague in advance of shooting Spaceman, an adaptation of Czech author Jaroslav Kalfař’s acclaimed novel Spaceman of Bohemia. Fans have spotted the actor in the center of the city this afternoon.

Spaceman tells the story of a Czech astronaut sent on a lengthy mission into outer space while his life on Earth slowly fades away. Carey Mulligan will star opposite Sandler as his character’s wife. Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood) and Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory) have also recently joined the cast.

On Tuesday, fans were surprised to see Sandler casually walking around Prague’s Old Town area.

“We were with colleagues at lunch when we noticed that Adam Sandler was sitting next to us,” businessman Tomáš Ságl, who posted a picture of Sandler and himself outside Prague Cuban restaurant La Bodeguita del Medio to Facebook, told

“He was considerate, very nice, he took pictures with us without any problems,” Ságl said of the Spaceman star.

Twitter user @JaroslavHonzik shared another picture of Sandler accidentally taken on the streets of central Prague.

Fans can expect to see Sandler throughout Prague and other locations across the Czech Republic throughout the summer months. Production on Spaceman will officially get underway later this month.

Mariánské Lázně will host some of the first scenes shot for the production of Spaceman in about two weeks. The scenes shot at Mariánské Lázně will feature spa treatments for pregnant women; if you happen to be 5-8 months pregnant and are available June 22-23, local casting agencies are looking for you.

Chernobyl director Johan Renck will be behind the camera for Spaceman, which has been adapted from Kalfař’s novel by Colby Day.
