Toy Story 5 (2026)

Czech box office June 18-21: ‘Toy Story 5’ tops the chart in light summer weekend

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 topped the Czech box office over a warm weekend, according to the latest from the Czech Film Distributors’ Union. The fifth entry in the 30-year-old series took in CZK 6.51 million, about a quarter less than last weekend’s top performer, Disclosure Day, and 40 percent off the opening weekend haul of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie earlier this year.

Disclosure Day slipped to third in its second weekend of release, suffering a hefty 66.2 percent drop. Steven Spielberg‘s sci-fi thriller starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor earned CZK 2.88 million to bring its two-week total to CZK 13.36 million.

Despite suffering a large 59.1 percent drop itself, Scary Movie managed to squeeze past the Spielberg blockbuster to maintain its number two spot at the Czech box office. Hollywood comedies don’t always translate well locally—The Naked Gun topped out at around CZK 7.5 million last summer—but the Wayans family parody has been a bona fide hit with nearly CZK 30 million after three weeks of release.

After three weeks of rising revenues, Obsession saw its first dip at the Czech box office over the weekend, slipping a modest 37.1 percent to chart fourth. Curry Barker‘s low-budget hit took in CZK 2.74 million to bring its four-week total to CZK 17.9 million.

Also holding strong is Backrooms, which fell 44.5 percent to come in fifth. Kane Parsons‘ liminal horror film earned CZK 1.41 million to bring its four-week total to CZK 19 million.

In a light weekend for debuts, the Czech horror-comedy Tahle párty je DEAD (which translates to This Party is DEAD) was the only other new release in the top 20. The new film from director Adam Kůs, which follows a group of friends who must deal with zombies at a Halloween party, earned CZK 100,000 to come in 19th.

Po večerce (which translates as After Dinner), a new Czech comedy from director Dan Pánek (Invincibles), earned CZK 402,000 in limited preview screenings to land in at 10th on the list. The film opens wide in local cinemas from June 25.
