English actor Luke Dale has spent years portraying one of the most recognizable characters in the Czech-made video game phenomenon Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Now, the performer best known as the charismatic nobleman Hans Capon is embarking on a different venture in the Czech capital: opening his own neighborhood pub.
The new establishment, called The Nobleman, is scheduled to open in Prague’s Vinohrady district on Oct. 1. While its medieval-inspired atmosphere inevitably recalls the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Dale says the venue is intended as a local pub rather than a themed attraction, combining Czech hospitality with elements of English pub culture.
A longtime dream rooted in Prague
Dale has lived in Prague for several years and has become closely associated with the Czech gaming industry through Warhorse Studios‘ internationally successful Kingdom Come series. In a video documenting the renovation of his new business, the actor said opening a pub fulfills a lifelong ambition that extends beyond his acting career.
“Ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to run a pub, a restaurant, a cafe, something,” Dale said. “Something that was bricks and mortar, something that felt real.”
He explained that while acting, filmmaking, and streaming have brought him professional success, he wanted to create a physical space where he could build a community and interact with people outside the entertainment industry.
The Nobleman is taking shape in a former pub space on the corner of Korunní and Chorvatská streets in Prague’s Vinohrady neighborhood, an area with a long tradition of hospitality and dining. Renovation work has largely been carried out by Dale and his partners, with the actor sharing footage of himself sanding furniture, carrying construction materials and preparing the interior.
The physical labor prompted inevitable comparisons with his aristocratic in-game alter ego. Joking about hauling heavy materials, Dale quipped that it was the real-world equivalent of carrying sacks in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, a task his pampered character would rarely undertake.
According to Dale, the finished venue will draw inspiration from places where noblemen once gathered to socialize, debate and make political decisions. However, he has emphasized that it is not intended to recreate a medieval tavern for tourists.
Instead, the concept focuses on creating a neighborhood pub serving quality beer and food in a welcoming atmosphere. Medieval influences will appear through decorative touches such as shields and historical ornaments rather than immersive role-playing or costumed staff.
Speaking to CzechCrunch, Dale described the project as “a love letter” to Prague and the Czech Republic, reflecting the gratitude he feels after making the country his home. He has previously spoken publicly about living in Prague with his Czech partner and becoming deeply attached to local culture.
The menu is expected to combine Czech and English influences, including traditional pub fare alongside Czech cuisine and locally brewed beer.
Success beyond the game
Dale’s popularity has grown considerably since the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, where Hans Capon again serves as one of the game’s central companions. Although protagonist Henry remains the series’ main character, many fans have embraced Capon as one of its most memorable personalities, helping Dale build a substantial online following through YouTube and Twitch.
Despite the game’s commercial success, however, Dale has said it did not translate into the wave of acting opportunities he had hoped for. In previous interviews, he acknowledged that while millions of players experienced the sequel, the broader film and television industry has not significantly changed his career prospects.
Instead, he has expanded his presence as a content creator while continuing to audition for acting roles. He says operating The Nobleman will become another major part of his professional life, although he has no intention of leaving acting behind.
His decision also reflects the enduring cultural impact of Warhorse Studios‘ historical role-playing franchise. Developed in Prague, the Kingdom Come series has become one of the Czech Republic’s most successful entertainment exports, earning worldwide acclaim for its historically grounded depiction of 15th-century Bohemia.
That influence now extends beyond gaming. At last year’s Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, audiences were presented with a cinematic version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, showcasing the game’s story in feature-length format. Meanwhile, a live-action adaptation of the franchise is currently in development, with Warhorse Studios co-founder Daniel Vávra leading the project.
