Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to Prague for sold-out fan event at Žofín Palace

Hollywood legend Arnold Schwarzenegger made a brief return to Prague on Thursday for a sold-out public appearance at Žofín Palace in the city center, marking his first visit to the Czech capital since filming the second season of FUBAR in 2024.

The action movie icon, former bodybuilding champion, and former governor of California spent only a few hours in Prague, arriving by private aircraft before heading directly to the exclusive Night with a Legend event. After meeting fans, he departed for the airport the same evening, continuing his European itinerary following a climate conference in neighboring Austria.

Although the visit was not connected to a film production, Schwarzenegger’s return attracted significant attention from Czech media and fans, many of whom had last seen him in Prague during the production of Netflix’s FUBAR.

A sold-out evening with fans

Around 800 guests attended the invitation-only event at Žofín Palace, where Schwarzenegger reflected on his life and career, from his childhood in Austria and success in competitive bodybuilding to his Hollywood career and years serving as governor of California.

Opening the evening, Schwarzenegger told the audience, “It’s amazing to be back in Prague,” before closing his greeting with his signature line from The Terminator. “I’ll be back” drew enthusiastic applause from the packed ballroom.

The event was not open to the general public or media beyond limited access. Guests holding premium tickets attended a formal three-course dinner with champagne before the main presentation, while those who purchased additional Meet & Greet packages were able to speak briefly with Schwarzenegger and pose for professional photographs after the show.

Ticket prices ranged from CZK 2,490 for standing admission to CZK 34,990 for the highest seating category. The optional Meet & Greet experience, which included a personal photograph with Schwarzenegger, cost an additional CZK 20,000, bringing the total price for some attendees to nearly CZK 55,000.

Despite the premium pricing, organizers reported that the event sold out quickly after tickets went on sale earlier this year. Fans also traveled to Václav Havel Airport Prague hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor upon arrival, although Schwarzenegger proceeded directly to his waiting vehicle without stopping for autographs or photographs.

Prague connection continues beyond filming

Schwarzenegger’s latest visit follows his extended stay in Prague during production of the second season of Netflix’s FUBAR, one of the more prominent international television productions to shoot in the Czech capital in recent years. That production employed local crews and used Prague locations to stand in for multiple international settings.

Although Thursday’s visit was purely promotional rather than production-related, it reinforced Schwarzenegger’s recent association with the Czech capital, where he has become a familiar presence for local film professionals and fans alike.

Promoter Petr Větrovský, whose agency organized the event, described Schwarzenegger as approachable throughout the visit, saying the actor was pleased to learn the event had sold out and was interested in the audience attending the evening. According to Větrovský, Schwarzenegger’s backstage requests were modest, consisting only of coffee, cookies, and almonds.

Following the Meet & Greet session, Schwarzenegger left Žofín Palace shortly after 9:30 p.m. and returned directly to the airport, concluding a visit that lasted only a few hours.

The successful event comes after a similar appearance by Chuck Norris was canceled shortly before it was due to take place last year because of the actor’s health. Norris died earlier this year, making Schwarzenegger’s Prague appearance the first major Hollywood action star to headline the Night with a Legend series since Jean-Claude Van Damme in 2023.

Will Arnold return to Prague? When a new Conan the Barbarian movie with Schwarzenegger was being developed in the mid-2010s, the Czech Republic was rumored as a potential filming location. That project ultimately never came to fruition, but the Hollywood legend will finally film King Conan in 2027 for writer-director Christopher McQuarrie; locations TBA.
