Dan Brown’s iconic symbologist Robert Langdon is set for his next on-screen adventure, and this time the action unfolds in the heart of Central Europe. Netflix has announced a new series based on The Secret of Secrets, Brown’s forthcoming novel set in Prague, with Brown himself co-creating the series alongside veteran showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost, Jack Ryan).
While the streaming platform has not confirmed where the series will be filmed, the richly detailed Prague setting—central to both the narrative and Brown’s inspiration—suggests a strong likelihood of at least partial production in the Czech capital.
Previous screen adaptations of Brown’s novels, including The Da Vinci Code and Inferno, were shot largely on location, adding weight to speculation that Prague may soon host the upcoming Netflix production.
Mystery and mythology in the heart of Europe
In The Secret of Secrets, Robert Langdon travels to Prague to attend a lecture by Katherine Solomon, a leading figure in the field of noetic science and his recent romantic interest. Solomon is preparing to publish a controversial manuscript that challenges fundamental beliefs about the nature of human consciousness. But when she vanishes—along with her research—Langdon is drawn into a labyrinth of ancient myths, shadowy organizations, and cutting-edge science.
The plot takes Langdon from Prague’s historic core through unexpected corners of the city, before expanding to London and New York. Early descriptions suggest a storyline that balances futuristic speculation with timeless mysteries, tapping into Prague’s deep well of legends and esoteric symbolism.
Czech publisher Argo, which consulted closely with Brown during the book’s development, describes the novel as the author’s “most ambitious yet.” Editor Petr Onufer praised the author’s depiction of Prague as one that will change how readers see the city: “After reading The Secret of Secrets, you’ll view Prague through different eyes.”
The localized Czech-language edition of the novel, Tajemství všech tajemství, will be published by Argo on the same day as the international release—Sept. 9, 2025. The Czech cover, unveiled earlier this spring, features a striking image of Charles Bridge, a landmark that may serve as more than a scenic backdrop in Brown’s latest thriller.
Netflix adaptation continues Langdon’s screen legacy
Netflix’s adaptation of The Secret of Secrets marks the latest chapter in Robert Langdon’s multimedia presence. The character, introduced in 2000’s Angels & Demons, reached global fame with 2003’s The Da Vinci Code. Langdon was portrayed by Tom Hanks in a trilogy of big-budget film adaptations directed by Ron Howard that culminated in 2016’s Inferno.
Ashley Zukerman later played Langdon for a 2021 Peacock adaptation of The Lost Symbol that ran for a single season. Casting details for the new series have yet to been announced.
Brown will serve as co-writer and executive producer on the series, alongside Cuse, who will also act as showrunner. The series promises to blend “futuristic science with mystical lore,” according to Netflix’s announcement, in keeping with the high-concept themes of Brown’s previous work. Emma Forman will also executive produce for Genre Arts.
The series joins Netflix’s expanding lineup of literary adaptations, including You, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and Guillermo del Toro’s forthcoming Frankenstein. Brown’s Langdon series has sold more than 250 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 56 languages, attesting to its continued global appeal.
