Prime Video has announced a July 15 premiere date for Ride or Die, the upcoming action-comedy series starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham that filmed extensively in Prague last year. Alongside the release date, the streaming platform also unveiled first-look images from the eight-episode production, which shot across the Czech capital over a six-month period.
Created by Tessa Coates and directed in part by Peyton Reed, the series follows two longtime friends whose lives are upended after one is revealed to be an international assassin. The project is among the latest major international productions to use Prague as both a filming hub and an on-screen setting, continuing the city’s strong run of high-profile streaming productions.
Prague locations featured in international spy comedy
Ride or Die centers on Debbie Claybourne, played by Spencer, and Judith Burton, played by Waddingham, whose friendship is tested after a failed hit forces them into hiding across Europe. The series blends espionage, action, and comedy elements as the pair evade assassins, criminals, and law enforcement agencies.

Production on the series began in Prague in early 2025 under the working title USW. Filming continued through June, with the production utilizing locations across Old Town, New Town, Karlín, Vinohrady, Žižkov, and Malá Strana. Local production services were provided by Stillking Films.
Many of Prague’s best-known landmarks and streets were used during filming, including Jan Palach Square near the Rudolfinum concert hall, Mariánské náměstí, Kampa, and areas surrounding the National Theatre. Additional shoots took place around Hospital Na Františku and central streets including Havelská, Rytířská, Melantrichova, and Petrská.
The production also staged large-scale action sequences in Karlín, where parts of Rohanské nábřeží were temporarily closed for car chases and stunt work; Waddingham can be seen in the area in the lead photo. Ride or Die is expected to present contemporary Prague more directly than many foreign productions filmed in the city, in which the Czech capital is utilized as a stand-in for other locales.
While Prague frequently doubles for other European locations in film and television, productions that explicitly portray the Czech capital remain relatively uncommon. Notable examples include Mission: Impossible and Netflix’s The Gray Man.
High-profile cast in Prime Video series
Beyond Spencer and Waddingham, the ensemble cast for Ride or Die includes Bill Nighy, Ed Skrein, Sylvia Hoeks, Calam Lynch, Savannah Steyn, Jamie Parker, and Jacky Ido. Director Reed, known for Marvel’s Ant-Man films, directed the first episodes, while Matt Miller serves as showrunner.
The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios alongside Double Dream, the production company founded by Andy and Barbara Muschietti, and Spencer’s Orit Entertainment. Waddingham and Spencer also serve as executive producers.
The project adds to a growing list of major streaming productions filmed in Prague in recent years. International series including Blade Runner 2099, Interview with the Vampire, Foundation, Carnival Row, The Wheel of Time, and most recently The Age of Innocence have all utilized Czech locations and studio infrastructure.
Industry observers have linked the continued influx of productions to the Czech Republic’s expanded audiovisual incentive program, which increased rebates from 20 percent to 25 percent in 2025 while also raising the maximum rebate cap for qualifying productions.
Prime Video announced the premiere date ahead of its annual upfront presentation in New York. All eight episodes of Ride or Die will debut simultaneously worldwide on July 15 in more than 240 countries and territories.
For Prague-based film crews and service companies, the release marks another high-profile international project completed in the Czech capital during an especially active period for streaming productions in Central Europe.
