New ‘Trailer Park Boys’ movie trailer showcases Prague, Futurum Music Bar, and Billy Bob Thornton

The debut trailer for Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Sh*trockers Story, the ungainly-titled movie featuring characters from the long-running Canadian series Trailer Park Boys, has dropped ahead of the film’s theatrical release later this year. Prague and the Czech capital’s Futurum Music Bar make featured appearances in the new trailer.

As The Prague Reporter detailed last summer, the Bubbles and the Sh*trockers Story filmed at a real concert from the fictional band, who played alongside actor and musician Billy Bob Thornton‘s very real band The Boxmasters. At the time, Thornton wasn’t confirmed to be part of the cast of the new Trailer Park Boys movie, but appeared alongside the cast onstage in Prague.

Going by the new trailer, Thornton has a major role in the movie as the lead singer of the band that Bubbles and the Sh*trockers accompany on their European tour. In addition to Prague, The Boxmasters and the Sh*trockers play in Amsterdam, Berlin, Liverpool, and Glasgow in the movie.

The band Bubbles and the Sh*trockers is led by singer Bubbles (Mike Smith), who has been supported in the past by Sebastian Bach, Alex Lifeson from Rush, and Tom Wilson from Blackie & The Rodeo Kings. The other main characters from Trailer Park Boys, Ricky (Robb Wells), Julian (John Paul Tremblay), and Randy (Patrick Roach), tag along for the movie’s European tour.

In addition to Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters, Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Sh*trockers Story also features another noted musical guest: longtime Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. Actors Martin Freeman (The Hobbit) and Robert Sheehan (The Umbrella Academy) also appear in the movie.

Trailer Park Boys is a Canadian mockumentary series that follows the misadventures of lifelong friends in a Nova Scotia trailer park. The show blends crude humor and heart and centers on their hilarious, often illegal schemes to get rich quick, while dealing with the eccentric residents of their park.

The original Trailer Park Boys ran for 12 seasons from 2001-2018, and picked up a cult following along the way with dozens of spinoffs including a previous 2006 movie and a currently-running podcast series, Trailer Park Boys: Park After Dark. The full series is streaming on Netflix in the U.S., but not available on any service in the Czech Republic.

Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Sh*trockers Story will release in cinemas across the U.S. and Canada from Dec. 6. A release in Czech cinemas has not been confirmed, but may be unlikely given the series’ lack of availability on the local market.
