Johnny Depp is Coming to Prague Next Week

Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp is coming to Prague next week – – but he won’t be in town to film his latest movie.

The actor is currently touring Europe with The Hollywood Vampires, a rock supergroup the star formed with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry in 2015. On Wednesday, June 13, the band will perform at the Letňany Airport in Prague as part of the Prague Rocks 2018 Festival.

Depp performs on rhythm and lead guitar for the band alongside Perry, while providing backing vocals to Cooper’s lead.

While Depp, Cooper, and Perry are no slouches, The Hollywood Vampires is merely an opening act at Prague Rocks 2018, which will be headlined by Ozzy Osbourne.

The fest represents a unique chance to see some of metal’s greatest legends together in Prague. Plus, one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Tickets to the show run 1490 – 1990 CZK (roughly 60 – 80 EUR).

Depp’s rail-thin appearance in photos from the Russian leg of The Hollywood Vampires’ tour have stirred some controversy in the online barrel-scraping circuit, with local tabloid Expres.cz going so far as to speculate that he’s HIV positive.

But Depp’s gaunt new look fits right in next to bandmates Perry and Cooper, and is likely a result of one of the star’s most recent performances; he plays a man dying of terminal cancer in Richard Says Goodbye, which wrapped shooting last year.

Created to honor the legacy of stars who died of excess in the ‘70s, The Hollywood Vampires is named after Cooper’s famed drinking club that included Keith Moon, John Lennon, Marc Bolan, and John Belushi among its ranks.

Also touring with the group in Europe are guitarist Tommy Henriksen (Warlock), drummer Matt Sorum (Guns ‘N Roses), and bassist Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots).
