This Thursday, March 16, is Rolling Stones Night across the Czech Republic as a pair of new documentaries about the legendary band will hit 75 cinemas across the country for the first and only time during a special one-off event.
In Prague, you can catch the two films at Kino Atlas, Kino Lucerna, Kino Dlabačov, Modřanský biograf, and Premiere Cinemas Praha Hostivař. Tickets range from about 150 – 250 CZK.
The two movies are The Rolling Stones Olé, Olé, Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America and The Rolling Stones Havana Moon. Both movies were directed by Paul Dugdale and are comprised of concert footage of the band’s 2016 international tour.
As the title implies, Olé, Olé, Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America looks at the band’s travels through South America during their 2016 tour, as septuagenarians Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and 69-year-old Ronnie Wood play at major cities across the continent.
Havana Moon, meanwhile, focuses on the culmination of that tour: the band’s first-ever performance in Havana in their 50-year career, which coincided with the lift of the United States’ embargo on Cuba (the band even delayed their concert to accommodate President Obama’s arrival in the country).
Both films had their US TV premiere earlier this year in January, but have yet to hit home video or streaming services. This Thursday might be the only opportunity to catch them in the Czech Republic for the foreseeable future.
