The Grand Stars Orchestra will embark on an eight-city Czech tour in February 2027 with The Greatest Film Music Show, a concert production dedicated to some of Hollywood’s most recognizable film scores and movie songs. The program will combine orchestral performances with vocalists, visual projections, and lighting effects in a show built around music from popular films spanning several decades.
The tour reflects the continued popularity of film music as a live concert experience. In recent years, orchestras and ensembles around the world have increasingly drawn audiences with programs centered on cinematic soundtracks, introducing both longtime film fans and concertgoers to music that has become closely associated with modern popular culture.
A program spanning generations of film music
According to organizers, The Greatest Film Music Show will feature music from a broad selection of films and television productions, ranging from classics of the 1990s to contemporary blockbusters. Instrumental scores will be paired with well-known songs written for or prominently featured in films.
Among the titles included in the program are Titanic, Pretty Woman, The Bodyguard, Dune, Top Gun: Maverick, Interstellar, Inception, Mission: Impossible, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Da Vinci Code, Skyfall, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Dirty Dancing, Rocky III, Moulin Rouge!, and The Avengers. Television music will also be represented with selections from Wednesday and Game of Thrones.
The repertoire extends beyond orchestral themes to include songs closely associated with Hollywood films. Audiences can expect arrangements of music popularized by performers including Adele, Lady Gaga, Céline Dion, Whitney Houston, Bryan Adams, Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, and Justin Timberlake. Many of these songs have received major film and music awards or have become enduring parts of their respective films’ legacies.
Organizers describe the approximately two-hour, 40-minute production, including an intermission, as a musical journey through some of cinema’s most familiar stories. Rather than focusing on a single composer or franchise, the program draws together works from a wide variety of genres, including action, science fiction, romance, fantasy, and drama.
The orchestra will be accompanied by a vocal ensemble and featured soloists, while synchronized lighting and projected visuals are intended to complement the music throughout the performance.
European orchestra continues international expansion
The Grand Stars Orchestra is an international orchestral project that specializes in concert productions blending symphonic music with film scores and contemporary popular music. Its musicians come from several European countries, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, France, Spain, and Ukraine.
The ensemble is led by conductor Vitalii Liashko, a clarinetist turned conductor whose international competition experience has helped shape the orchestra’s performance style. Featured vocalists Margarita Meleshko and Eugene Sharmanov perform alongside the orchestra, while concertmaster Daria Bilotserkivska and choirmaster Anastasia Sarabanska oversee the ensemble’s string and choral sections.
The February 2027 tour will visit Ostrava, České Budějovice, Hradec Králové, Teplice, Brno, Prague, Karlovy Vary, and Zlín, bringing the production to audiences across the country. In Prague, the concert will take place at Divadlo Hybernia on Feb. 25, 2027.
Concert programs devoted to film music have become an increasingly common feature of live performance schedules in Europe, reflecting the enduring popularity of movie soundtracks beyond the cinema.
