Jack Ryan, the Amazon Prime spy thriller series based on characters created by Tom Clancy, will shoot scenes for its third season in Prague this May.
Local casting agencies are currently seeking waitstaff and an experienced chef to appear in Jack Ryan for a sequence set in a luxurious restaurant in the center of Prague. Filming will take place in mid-May.
Jack Ryan stars John Krasinski in the titular role of a CIA analyst unwittingly thrust into the field for international intrigue. Wendell Pierce co-stars as James Greer, a role memorably played by James Earl Jones in the earlier films.
While Krasinski and Pierce will reprise their central roles, the rest of the supporting cast for season three has yet to be confirmed.
Abbie Cornish appeared as a love interest in Jack Ryan’s first season, while Michael Kelly, Noomi Rapace, Jovan Adepo, Jordi Mollà, Cristina Umaña, and Francisco Denis joined the show for season two.
The Jack Ryan character has been previously played on the big screen by Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October), Harrison Ford (Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger), Ben Affleck (The Sum of All Fears), and Chris Pine (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit). Krasinski has cited Ford’s performance as an inspiration for his interpretation.
Given the globetrotting nature of the series, the Czech capital is likely to be among a number of international filming locations for the series.
The previous two seasons of Jack Ryan shot in diverse locations including London, Montreal, Morocco, and Paris (season 1) and Bogotá, Moscow, and New York (season 2).
While the third season of Jack Ryan was greenlit by Amazon back in 2019, a change in showrunners along with the coronavirus pandemic have pushed production back. Season 2 premiered in 2019, but season 3 is likely to bow a full three years later in 2022.
Scenes shot in Prague will be among the first for production on Jack Ryan’s third season.
Despite the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Prague has been a prime destination for major international projects in the first half of 2021.
The third season of Amazon’s Hanna, a Netflix adaptation of All Quiet on the Western Front, Sky’s Extinction, the French Cold War series Totems, and the Wonder prequel White Bird, starring Gillian Anderson, have all shot in Prague over the first few months of 2021.
A new adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons, produced for Starz, has also just begun production; it will be shot entirely in the Czech Republic. Production on Amazon’s Wheel of Time, disrupted during the pandemic, should also resume in the coming weeks.
