The Prague shoot on The Crow, a new take on the supernatural James O’Barr comic starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs, is officially underway. As of mid-July, filming for The Crow is taking place in central locations of the Czech capital.
The production has been registered locally as a TV series, with scenes for at least three episodes of The Crow now being shot in Prague’s city center. The project has not officially been identified as a TV production by other sources, but registration with city documentation is typically accurate.

Production on The Crow is currently taking place in the center of Prague, with scenes shooting mid-month in the Czech capital’s Jewish quarter and high-end Pařížská street, as well as Na příkopě and nearby Nekázanka street.
Later this month, scenes for The Crow will shoot along Politických vězňů and Opletalova streets near the Czech capital’s Wenceslas Square and Main Train Station. Filming for The Crow is expected to take place in Prague through September, with scenes also shooting in Munich.
Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman, Ghost in the Shell) is directing The Crow, from a screenplay by Zach Baylin, who scored an Oscar nomination last year for his King Richard script. Director Sanders also filmed the pilot for Foundation, which recently wrapped production of its second season in the Czech capital.
While Skarsgård will star as lead Eric Draven in The Crow, it’s unknown who FKA Twigs will portray. Better known as a musical artist, the actress made her feature film debut alongside Shia LaBeouf in 2019’s Honey Boy. The rest of the cast for The Crow has yet to be confirmed.
Bill Skarsgård is best known for his portrayal of Pennywise the Dancing Clown from It and It Chapter Two. The Crow would appear to be his first project filmed in the Czech Republic, but he shot for Atomic Blonde in nearby Budapest.
The Crow is one of a few large projects to shoot in the Czech capital this summer, alongside the Disney+ and National Geographic miniseries A Small Light, a Holocaust drama starring Liev Schreiber as Anne Frank’s father, and the fourth season of the popular German series Das Boot.
Going forward, however, international film production in the Czech Republic will likely thin out. While The Crow and these other projects managed to register with the Czech Film Fund by the end of 2021, production incentives are currently suspended in the Czech Republic, with no projects able to register through the first six months of 2022. The effects of this suspension will likely be felt in the coming years, with members of the local industry losing thousands of potential jobs.
