Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carrie-Anne Moss in FUBAR (2025)

‘FUBAR’ season 2: Prague-shot Arnold Schwarzenegger series premieres on Netflix

The second season of FUBAR, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, premieres on Netflix this weekend, bringing viewers back into the high-stakes world of CIA operative Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) and his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro). The eight-episode season briefly filmed in Prague last September.

Season two of FUBAR continues the father-daughter spy dynamic that made the first season a hit, while introducing new threats. Scenes shot in Prague can be seen through the film’s first few episodes; the production filmed in the Czech capital’s Old Town during summer 2024, utilizing iconic locations including Hotel Paris and the historic city center.

The Czech capital appears at the end of the first episode, where characters played by Schwarzenegger, Barbaro, and Carrie-Anne Moss are seen both outside and inside Hotel Paris. The Prague-set scenes continue into the second episode, showcasing some nice location work throughout Old Town’s cobblestone streets and featuring several rooftop shots that highlight the city’s architectural beauty.

Prague returns in episode three, but this time masquerading as Tallinn, Estonia. The aftermath of an action sequence takes place on Petrská street, while the Carrie-Anne Moss character drives down Národní street. The filmmakers opted not to alter the Czech-language storefront signs to Estonian, creating an amusing detail for local viewers.

If you’re only tuning into FUBAR to do some Prague-spotting, you can safely tune out after the third episode, as the Czech capital does not appear to return on-screen throughout the rest of the eight-episode season.

New Threats and Familiar Faces

FUBAR‘s second season introduces Matrix star Moss as Greta Nelso, a former East German spy who emerges as the primary antagonist. Greta represents both a professional threat and a personal challenge for Luke, as she is described as an old flame from his past who threatens to destroy both the world and his life. The character’s introduction adds layers of complexity to the series’ central dynamics, particularly given her romantic history with Schwarzenegger’s character during the Cold War era.

The season’s central plot revolves around a nefarious scheme to destroy the U.S. power grid, which would ultimately plunge the world into chaos. This global threat requires Luke, Emma and their CIA team to navigate both international espionage and personal relationships as they work to prevent catastrophe. The stakes are higher than the first season, with the team facing an adversary who understands Luke’s weaknesses and methods intimately.

One of the season’s most-hyped sequences involves a complex tango scene between Schwarzenegger and Moss, set to flamenco music. The scene required extensive rehearsal, as it combined four pages of dialogue with intricate choreography.

Schwarzenegger admitted to being nervous about the sequence initially, particularly given his unfamiliarity with working alongside Moss. However, both actors committed to extensive preparation, with Schwarzenegger praising Moss’s work ethic and collaborative approach to mastering the demanding scene.

“Carrie-Anne was just such a joy to work with, and I think because of her, we were able to pull it off and make it one of my favorite scenes in the TV series,” the star says in FUBAR promotional material.

Returning Cast and Production Details

The core supporting FUBAR team returns for the second season, including Monica Barbaro as Emma, Fortune Feimster as Roo, Milan Carter as Barry, Travis Van Winkle as Aldon, Andy Buckley as Donnie, and Aparna Brielle as Tina. The family dynamics continue with Fabiana Udenio returning as Luke’s ex-wife Tally, while Jay Baruchel reprises his role as Emma’s now ex-boyfriend Carter, a schoolteacher.

The second season consists of eight episodes, following the same format as Season 1, with all episodes premiering simultaneously on Netflix as of June 12. Each episode runs approximately 45-50 minutes, maintaining the series’ blend of action sequences and family comedy that distinguished the first season.

Primary production on FUBAR took place in Ontario, with additional filming completed in Prague during late summer, 2024. Local Czech production was coordinated by Stillking Films, which has become a go-to production company for larger international projects filming in the Czech Republic.

The Prague shoot represented Schwarzenegger’s first major filming project in the Czech capital, though he previously shot a commercial for Mobile Strike in nearby Beroun in 2015.

Prague has established itself as a popular location for spy thrillers in recent years, with productions including Amazon’s Jack Ryan also utilizing the city’s distinctive architecture and historical atmosphere. The choice to use Prague as both itself and as a stand-in for Tallinn reflects the city’s versatility as a filming location and its ability to represent various Eastern European settings convincingly.
