The 1980s classic Dirty Dancing will be screened in Prague with a live orchestra and vocal performances at the O2 Universum on May 8, 2025. The event will feature a digitally remastered version of the film accompanied by a live band and soloists performing its iconic soundtrack, which includes the Oscar-winning single (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.
Dirty Dancing in Concert has been touring Europe, including shows in neighboring Germany, but next spring will mark its debut in the Czech Republic. Following the screening, performers will host an after-party at the venue, allowing attendees to sing and dance to the film’s most recognizable hits.
“It’s not only Dirty Dancing fans who can’t imagine the film itself without its cult songs, so we’re offering them the opportunity to dance to the ‘best of’ from the film soundtrack for the first time together with the film,” Květa Havelková from organizer JVS Group says in a press release.
“It is a completely new concept and extension of the screening experience with live music. The soloists are not only excellent singers, but also showmen who add to the singing dance creations inspired by those we know directly from the film.”
The O2 universum show will include a full-length screening of the original movie on a large screen, enhanced by live musical performances from a band and singers who will recreate the film’s memorable soundtrack. The performance will culminate in an encore party, where the audience can interact with the performers and take part in a communal celebration of the film’s music and dance.
“We are glad that as part of the European tour, we managed to negotiate a date for the show in Prague as well,” Havelková adds.
“Until now, this unique concept of Dirty Dancing was available for Czech fans only in Germany, so now they have it within reach and can enjoy firsthand not only the melodies but also the rhythms and steps of Dirty Dancing.”
The event will feature songs like (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life and Hungry Eyes, which have become synonymous with the film since its release more than 35 years ago. It aims to appeal to both long-time fans of Dirty Dancing as well as new audiences who want to experience the film for the first time in a live setting.
Tickets for Dirty Dancing in Concert in Prague are now available through official sellers Ticketmaster and Ticketportal, and run from CZK 990 to CZK 3490.
