Change My Mind (2025)

Czech streaming charts Sept. 29-Oct. 5: Czech doc ‘Change My Mind’ makes election weekend splash

Play Dirty was the most popular movie on Czech streaming services over the past week according to data from aggregator JustWatch. The action-comedy that The Prague Reporter calls “a rousing return to form for director Shane Black” stars Mark Wahlberg as the master criminal from Donald E. Westlake’s long-running Parker series, a role previously filled by Lee Marvin, Mel Gibson, and Jason Statham.

Coming in second was something of a surprise: the Czech documentary Change My Mind, which follows pro-Russian apologists as they take a tour of the front lines in war-torn Ukraine. The film was released in Czech cinemas just six weeks ago, but debuted on Netflix over the past weekend to coincide with the 2025 Czech parliamentary election, which was won by ANO, headed by populist former PM and Donald Trump supporter Andrej Babiš.

The Lost Bus, based on the thrilling true story of a bus driver who saved 22 children during the 2018 Camp Fire in California, came in third for Apple TV+. The latest film from director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Ultimatum, Captain Phillips) stars Matthew McConaughey in the heroic central role.

Boosted by news of an upcoming sequel, David Fincher‘s award-winning 2010 drama The Social Network, based on the story of the founding of Facebook by Mark Zuckerberg, shot up to fourth in Czech charts over the past week. The now-in-production sequel, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin and starring Mikey Madison, Jeremy Strong and Bill Burr alongside Jesse Eisenberg returning as Zuckerberg, is slated to hit cinemas next October.

After leading Czech streaming charts for two weeks, Superman tumbled to fifth. James Gunn‘s DC reworking, starring David Corenswet as the titular superhero and Nicholas Hoult as villainous Lex Luthor, failed to make much of an impact at the local box office during its July release but has been a hit on HBO Max.

Topping Czech streaming charts among TV shows this week was Alice in Broderland, which came in third last week with the release of its third season in full on Netflix. The hit Japanese sci-fi series, based on the manga of the same name by Haro Aso, follows a group of friends fighting to return to their own world after being transported to a desolate futuristic Tokyo.

Monster: The Ed Gein Story, which tells the story of the infamous Wisconsin serial killer, debuted in second for Netflix with the release of its eight-episode season. Charlie Hunnam stars as Gein, whose crimes inspired films such as Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs.

Superhero spinoffs Peacemaker and Gen V, currently releasing episodes for their second seasons on HBO Max and Prime Video, respectively, came in third and fourth.

Twisted Metal, which concluded its second season on HBO Max back in August, surged back into the top 10 in Czechia over the past week, landing at number five. Co-star Johnno Wilson was recently confirmed to be in the cast of Resident Evil, which kicks off its Prague shoot later this month.
