Summer Cinema Returns to Stromovka's Tiskárna na Vzduchu This Week!
Now is the season for open-air movies in Prague, and popular Prague 7 beer garden & cultural space Tiskárna na Vzduchu will be kicking off their summer cinema season starting tomorrow.
Open from April through September, Tiskárna na Vzduchu (which literally translates to Printer on the Air) organizes events including concerts, dance and theater performances, festivals and workshops. But given its location next to one of central Prague’s largest parks, Stromovka, it’s an especially popular destination in the summer months for beer and other refreshments.
Tomorrow, May 29, Tiskárna na Vzduchu will kick off their summer cinema screening with a presentation of the Coen Brothers’ underrated 2008 comedy Burn After Reading, starring Frances McDormand, Brad Pitt, and George Clooney.
The venue will screen a movie every Tuesday throughout the summer, with some intermittent screenings on other nights, too. In June, films include the Walter Hill classic The Warriors and Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.
Films start at dusk (21:00), and the entry price varies but is generally 50-60 CZK.
Here’s the Tiskárna na Vzduchu schedule for the next month:
May 29: Burn After Reading
June 5: This Ain’t California! (in German)
June 12: The Warriors
June 14: Pulp Fiction
June 19: Narodni heroj Ljiljan Vidic (in Croatian/Serbian)
June 26: Planeta Česko (in Czech)
Tiskárna na Vzduchu is located by the Výstaviště Exhibition Grounds on the corner of Stromovka park, and is one of two summer cinemas to set up shop by Výstaviště in 2018.
Later in June, Letní kino Výstaviště (now in its second year) will show films at a new location, the Křižíkova fontána, from Wednesdays through Saturdays.
