Prague-shot ‘The Devil Conspiracy’ (‘dEvil’) gets debut trailer ahead of world premiere

The Devil Conspiracy, which shot in Prague in the spring of 2019 under the title dEvil, will have its world premiere at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival next weekend, and it looks like audiences are in for some fun. The festival has quietly dropped the first official trailer for the film after some stills were released earlier this year.

Directed by Nathan Frankowski, The Devil Conspiracy stars Alice Orr-Ewing (The Theory of Everything, A Very British Scandal) as a woman kidnapped by a Satanic cult and impregnated with the clone of Jesus Christ… or perhaps, as hinted at by the title, something more sinister.

The Devil Conspiracy shot in Prague and other locations across the Czech Republic in March and April of 2019. Czech locations for the movie can be seen throughout the trailer.

Prague’s Church of St. Gabriel in Smíchov appears to be a prominent filming location, with filming for The Devil Conspiracy in Prague also taking place at the city center’s Klementinum building (which was also utilized for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and nearby Platnéřská street in Josefov.

In addition to Prague, locations utilized for The Devil Conspiracy include popular Czech tourist attractions including Telč and its gothic château, the Benedictine monastery in Kladruby, the the Hell’s Mine Bikers’ Cave in Cvikov (which might stand in for the real deal) and the picturesque Homolák quarry.

The supporting cast of The Devil Conspiracy includes Joe Anderson (Across the Universe, The Grey) as Lucifer and Peter Mensah (300, Snake Eyes) as the Archangel Michael. Joe Doyle (Salem), James Faulkner (Game of Thrones, Atomic Blonde), Spencer Wilding (Men in Black: International, Victor Frankenstein), and septuagenarian model Eveline Hall also star.

Local thespian Brian Caspe has a prominent role as the mad scientist behind the cloning technology, while Prague-based actors Jim High, Kevin Michael Clarke, Pavel Kříž, and Jiří Valeš also feature among the cast.

Ed Alan is credited as the sole screenwriter on The Devil Conspiracy, and also serves as producer. Kevan Van Thompson and Václav Mottl from Czech Anglo Productions are among the film’s executive producers.

The Devil Conspiracy will have its world premiere next Saturday during the closing night of the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. The festival guide hints at a fun tone for the movie.

“This world premiere is one of the most tempting, not to say daring pitches of these last few years! If director Nathan Frankowski was aware of the risks he was taking with such a script, he had the good idea of not limiting his imagination,” reads the description at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival.

“The result? A gloriously straight-faced spectacle that’s as if Chuck Norris would walk right into The Da Vinci Code and smash the place into one bloody pulp. Is this what Christ died for on the cross?”

A theatrical/streaming release for The Devil Conspiracy, a.k.a dEvil, has yet to be announced.
