Quentin Tarantino’s ninth feature film will release in the Czech Republic later next week, and Prague 7 cinema Bio Oko will celebrate with a week-long mini-retrospective that includes some of the director’s most acclaimed features.
Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood has already been released in the USA and other territories to (mostly) acclaim, but those of us in Prague will finally get the chance to catch it two weeks later when it releases on August 15.
To whet Praguer appetites, Bio Oko will be hosting a week-long mini-fest starting on Monday, August 12 with a screening of Tarantino’s previous film, The Hateful Eight, a chamber-drama western starring Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson, among others.
On Tuesday, Oko will sceen what some consider to be his best film: 1997’s Jackie Brown, starring Pam Grier and Robert Forster. The Elmore Leonard adaptation has always topped my personal list of Tarantino’s finest.
Mid-week, Bio Oko will premiere Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood on Wednesday before unveiling two of Tarantino’s most famous films to close out the fest: the revisionist WWII drama Inglourious Basterds on Thursday and Pulp Fiction on Friday.
Not known for brevity, the five Tarantino features combine for nearly 800 minutes of cinema at Bio Oko next week.
Here’s the full lineup for Bio Oko’s Tarantino mini-fest next week in Prague. All movies start at 20:30:
Monday, August 12: The Hateful Eight
Tuesday, August 13: Jackie Brown
Wednesday, August 14: Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood
Thursday, August 15: Inglourious Basterds
Friday, August 16: Pulp Fiction
But Bio Oko won’t be the only Prague cinema screening a mini Tarantino fest next week: Prague 1 cinema Kino Mat will also be showing Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds next week leading up to the premiere of Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood:
Monday, August 12: Pulp Fiction in 35mm (at 18:15 and 21:00)
Tuesday, August 13: Inglourious Basterds (20:30)
Wednesday, August 14: Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood (20:30)
