A newly digitized version of Jaromil Jireš’ cult classic will compete in Venice Classics, highlighting Czech film restoration efforts.
The Czech-Slovak-Polish co-production Father (Otec) will make its world premiere in Venice’s Orizzonti competition, marking a milestone for director Tereza Nvotová.
The seven-episode series from Oscar-nominated director Thomas Vinterberg, which shot in Prague in 2023, will premiere on Danish TV in October.
Previously titled The Bastard and King’s Land, The Promised Land shot on location in the Czech Republic and Denmark last summer.
