Superman soared into first place on Czech streaming charts in its debut weekend on HBO Max, according to data from global streaming tracker JustWatch. James Gunn‘s DC retool, starring David Corenswet as the titular superhero and Nicholas Hoult as villainous Lex Luthor, failed to make much of an impact at the local box office during its July release and hits streaming just two months later.
That’s a faster turnaround than The Brutalist, which debuted on SkyShowtime in the Czech Republic this past weekend after hitting cinemas earlier this year. Brady Corbet’s drama earned Adrien Brody his second Best Actor Oscar for his tender portrayal of a fictional Hungarian architect who emigrates to the United States in the mid-20th century.
September 5, another awards season contender about sports reporters covering the 1972 Munich massacre, came in third in its debut on SkyShowtime. The drama starring Peter Sarsgaard and John Magaro earned a single Academy Award nomination, for Best Original Screenplay.
Thunderbolts* continues to hold strong for Disney+, coming in fourth to maintain four weeks in the Czech streaming top five. The MCU superhero film underperformed at the box office earlier this summer, but remains a strong player on streaming for Disney.
The Conjuring: Last Rites has dominated the Czech box office over the past three weekends, and interest in the franchise has spread to a streaming resurgence. The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, both streaming locally on Netflix, surged to fifth and eighth, respectively, on Czech streaming charts over the past week.

Gen V, which dropped the first three episodes of its second season, came in second for Prime Video. The superhero satire spinoff of The Boys is releasing new episodes on Wednesdays. Dexter: Resurrection and Alien: Earth, both dropping new episodes weekly, continue to hold strong in Czech charts, coming in third and fourth, respectively.
This week’s big release on Netflix, Black Rabbit, finished fourth on Czech streaming charts among TV series despite dropping all of its eight episodes on the streamer over the weekend. The crime drama, which has drawn comparisons to Ozark, stars Jude Law and Jason Bateman as brothers struggling to manage a New York City bar amid underground criminal activity.
And despite being more than four decades old, Knight Rider still has an audience in the Czech Republic. The original series starring David Hasselhoff finished ninth among TV series over the past weekend. The show is streaming on SkyShowtime in Czechia.
