Train Dreams was the most popular film on streaming services in the Czech Republic for the second straight week, according to aggregator JustWatch. The Prague Reporter calls the intimate tale of frontier life in America’s Pacific Northwest starring Joel Edgerton “one of the very best films of 2025.”
The Fantastic Four: First Steps rose all the way up to second in Czech streaming charts among movies in its fourth week of streaming on Disney+. The MCU superhero movie starring Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby failed to make much noise at the local box office over the summer, but has charted in the top 10 on streaming each week since its debut a month ago.
Homesick (De nærmeste), a 2015 Norwegian drama about the taboo relationship between two half-siblings, charted third over the past week for Netflix. The steamy drama originally premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, and was one of three movies shortlisted by Norway for Oscar consideration that year.
Are you ready for Christmas? Czech TV audiences certainly are, with multiple holiday favorites charting among the top 10 most popular movies in the Czech Republic. The enduringly popular holiday favorite Home Alone, celebrating 35 years since its release this year, came in at number six for Disney+.
The 2000 adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas, starring Jim Carrey in the titular role, charted in the top ten for the third straight week, though it fell to ninth this week. The 2018 animated version The Grinch, meanwhile, shot up all the way to number four in this week’s charts.
Getting a boost from the theatrical release of box office smash Zootopia 2, 2016’s original Zootopia charted among Czechia’s most popular streaming movies over the past week, coming in at number seven. The new sequel had the fourth-highest-grossing opening weekend at the global box office ever over the weekend.
Also getting a boost from the release of sequel Wicked: For Good in cinemas over the weekend, 2024’s Wicked charted in the top 10 for the second straight week. The epic fantasy musical based on characters from The Wizard of Oz is streaming on SkyShowtime in the Czech Republic.

Stranger Things had been charting in the top 10 among TV series in the weeks leading up to its release on Netflix, and it leapt to the top of the charts this past week after dropping the first four episodes of season 5. Look for it to hold its position as Czechia’s most popular TV series through the holiday season as the remaining episodes drop by the end of the year.
After topping Czech charts among TV series for the previous three weeks, the German-language global hit Maxton Hall – The World Between Us was knocked down to second. The young adult romance, Prime Video’s biggest non-English-language series, has now released all six episodes of its second season.
Prime Video’s spy series Hanna, based on the 2011 movie of the same name, came in third over the past week after releasing locally on SkyShowtime. The series, which aired from 2019-2021, shot its third and final season across locations in Prague and the Czech Republic.
The HBO Max horror prequel It: Welcome to Derry held strong in third in Czech charts this week. The first six episodes of the series, based on the work of Stephen King, are now streaming, with additional episodes dropping on Sundays (Monday morning, Prague time).
The Taylor Sheridan-created series Tulsa King rose to fourth over the past week for SkyShowtime. The crime drama stars Sylvester Stallone in his first major leading television role as a New York mafia capo who is exiled to Oklahoma and attempts to build a new criminal empire.
Pluribus, the latest series from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan, dropped from second to sixth in Czech streaming charts. The sci-fi series starring Rhea Seehorn has benefited from rave reviews, and has released five episodes with new installments dropping on Fridays for Apple TV+.
