P*fest: Prague’s first festival of pornographic films comes to Bio Oko, Feb. 6-7

Prague will host its first festival dedicated to pornographic films, P*fest, Feb. 6–7 at Bio Oko in Holešovice. The two-day event aims to examine sexually explicit films as both cultural artifacts and artistic expressions, moving beyond the conventional perception of pornography as solely a source of personal gratification.

Organizers Zuzana Černá, Anna Krejčířová, and Dorota Vašíčková describe the festival as a space for critical engagement, discussion, and education. “We want to show that pornography can not only arouse but also liberate and enrich. It allows audiences to explore their own sexuality in a healthy, informed way,” they explain.

While European capitals have long hosted adult film festivals, Prague—a city historically linked to the pornography industry—has lacked a platform addressing alternative and feminist perspectives on sexually explicit media. P*fest intends to fill this gap with curated screenings, expert-led discussions, and a welcoming, safe environment.

The two-day festival will include curated blocks of adult content; according to the program, all screenings will be English-friendly save for a block dedicated to audio pornography on Feb. 6.

International shorts and thematic programming

The core of P*fest’s program consists of six curated screenings of short films from around the world. Each program is thematically anchored, giving audiences a clear expectation of content and aesthetic approach. The films highlight diverse bodies, identities, and fantasies, emphasizing ethical and safe production practices.

Themes range from political reflections on contemporary social issues to auteur-driven works that challenge industry templates, as well as discussions of porn literacy, digital intimacy, and the evolving role of technology in sexual culture. According to the organizers, sharing these screenings in a communal setting provides a unique experience that reduces shame and challenges personal prejudices.

“Many visitors initially worry about watching sexually explicit material among strangers,” the festival team notes. “In practice, shared viewings often create an atmosphere of curiosity, engagement, and mutual respect.”

Feminism, inclusivity, and safe spaces

Beyond film screenings, P*fest emphasizes inclusivity and feminist values. Organizers aim to foster respectful dialogue where participants can explore pornography as a cultural phenomenon without fear of judgment. Discussions following each screening invite audience participation, offering an educational and reflective dimension alongside entertainment.

The festival’s approach reflects broader cultural shifts toward recognizing sexual media as multifaceted, with potential for artistic, social, and political significance. While explicitly acknowledging the sexual appeal of the films, P*fest foregrounds diversity, creativity, and ethical engagement. It is a rare platform in Prague where adult media is presented through a lens of openness, analysis, and inclusivity.
