Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights (2026)

Czech box office, Feb. 19-22: ‘Wuthering Heights’ rises to the top of the charts

After opening in second place over Valentine’s Day last weekend, Emerald Fennell‘s Wuthering Heights suffered a minuscule 16 percent drop to rise to the top of the Czech box office charts in its second weekend of release, according to data from the Czech Film Distributors Union. The Gothic romance starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as ill-fated lovers Cathy and Heathcliff earned CZK 4.61 million to bring its two-week total to just north of CZK 13 million.

Czech comedy Když se zhasne fell to second after leading the local box office last weekend, earning CZK 4.35 million to bring its two-week haul to CZK 13.15 million. The latest film from director Andy Fehu (One Man Show: The Movie) stars an ensemble cast including Petra Hřebíčková and Martin Pechlát, with a story surrounding the opening of a new restaurant.

Zootopia 2 and Avatar: Fire and Ash continue to pad their totals as the highest-grossing 2025 releases at the Czech box office, coming in third and fourth for the second weekend after topping the charts for nearly three months. Sony’s animated comedy GOAT continues to prove no match for Zootopia 2, rounding out the top five.

In a light weekend for new releases, Czech-German-Canadian production The Last Whale Singer fared best, opening in sixth place with CZK 2.25 million. The animated film from director Reza Memari was produced in English, but is screening locally only in a Czech-dubbed version.

French family comedy Marsupilami took in CZK 1.13 million to open in eighth. The adaptation of André Franquin’s comic of the same name stars Philippe Lacheau and Jean Reno in the story of a courier tasked with transporting a mysterious package from South America that happens to contain the adorable titular creature. Screening locally only in a Czech-dubbed version.

Jim Jarmusch‘s Father Mother Sister Brother performed well in limited release at art house cinemas, debuting with CZK 763,000 to come in 13th in this weekend’s charts. Adam Driver, Cate Blanchett, and Tom Waits star among the ensemble cast in the latest from the eclectic director.

Despite positive reviews and good word-of-mouth, the horror-comedy Cold Storage failed to find footing at the Czech box office, opening in 15th with CZK 527,000. Liam Neeson, Joe Keery, and Georgina Campbell star in the film about attempts to contain a deadly virus threatening to break out of underground storage.
