The Czech comedy Džob (a transliteration of Job) continues to lead to Czech box office for a third straight weekend, adding an additional CZK 3.91 million to its impressive three-week total of 38.1 million ($1.82 million). Tomáš Vorel’s film, which stars his son and Jiří Mádl, is a sequel to his films The Can (Gympl) and Vejška.
Director Zach Cregger’s Weapons, meanwhile, managed the rare feat of grossing more in its second weekend of release than its first, maintaining its fourth position at the weekend box office with CZK 2.14 million. Cregger himself is currently in Prague ahead of production on Resident Evil, and has surprised fans with personal appearances at local screenings of his latest film.
F1 continues to be the blockbuster story of the summer at the Czech box office, holding in second place with CZK 2.55 million to bring its 2025 total to CZK 91.5 million ($4.36 million). It has dwarfed competition such as Jurassic World Rebirth, which has grossed CZK 57.5 million ($2.84 million) over seven weeks in release, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which has brought in CZK 17.4 million ($830,000) over four weeks.
Among this weekend’s new releases, the spoof comedy reboot The Naked Gun debuted third with CZK 2.28 million, while Celine Song’s romance Materialists placed just behind it with CZK 1.72 million. The UK-German animated film Grand Prix of Europe, this week’s only other major new release, brought in CZK 857,811 to come in just outside the top 10.
In preview screenings in just four cinemas, the Czech comedy Srnky took in a whopping CZK 1.03 million to crack the top 10, coming in ninth. The big preview numbers for director Tomáš Svoboda’s film, which stars Štěpán Kozub, bode well for its wide release from Sept. 9
