Johnny Depp is coming to Prague to perform onstage with guitarist Jeff Beck

Johnny Depp is returning to Prague this summer, but not to shoot a new movie: the Hollywood star will perform onstage with English guitarist Beck at Prague’s Forum Karlín next month.

Just last week, a United States jury awarded Depp $15 million in his defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp and Beck, a longtime friend, reportedly celebrated in Birmingham following the court victory, racking up a £50,000 tab at an Indian restaurant.

A musical collaboration between Beck and Depp was announced in April 2020, with Depp describing the English guitarist as “my dear friend and my brother […] and one of my all-time guitar heroes.”

Depp and Beck released the single Isolation in 2020. According to recent comments from Beck, the release of their album is “imminent”.

Beck rose to prominence with The Yardbirds in the 1960s after being chosen to replace Eric Clapton, and recorded hits such as Heart Like a Soul with the band. He left The Yardbirds after less than two years to start a solo career and other projects.

Depp may be more famous for his acting career, but he’s also a talented musician; in 2015, he formed the supergroup Hollywood Vampires with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry.

During the end of his trial, Depp appeared onstage with Beck during some UK gigs. Today, it was announced that the actor would join him on his European tour, which includes a stop in Prague on July 11.

Johnny Depp is no stranger to the Czech Republic.

Last year, the actor attended the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, where he was awarded a Crystal Globe for Contribution to World Cinema. The Karlovy Vary festival, as well as the San Sebastian festival in Spain, were criticized for honoring Depp in the wake of abuse allegations, but his recent court win has vindicated him in the eyes of many.

In June 2018, Depp played onstage with the Hollywood Vampires at the Prague Rocks festival in Letňany, which was headlined by Ozzy Osbourne.

Depp also filmed the 2001 thriller From Hell in the Czech Republic. The actor played a detective tracking Jack the Ripper through the streets of Victorian London, which were actually contemporary Prague.

  1. Hmm, a kdy se koncert vlastně přesně koná se nedozvíme, jen dost neurčitě… Hlavně co nejvíc toho napsat o Deppovi.
