Hollywood star Mel Gibson was spotted in central Prague this weekend, and local tabloids captured photos of the actor on Charles Bridge and other locations taking in some of the Czech capital’s sights.
The actor is not filming a new movie in Prague, but just passing through the city as a tourist according to available information. Gibson recently wrapped filming in Budapest on The Continental, a TV series spinoff on the John Wick franchise set at the titular hotel, and was also often seen on the streets of the Hungarian capital.
Before heading to Prague, Gibson also toured Vienna, where he attended a concert from the Vienna Mozart Orchestra. This upcoming weekend, the actor will head to Scotland for the fan event Experience Mel Gibson LIVE in Glasgow.
In Prague on Saturday, local tabloid Blesk photographed the actor taking an inconspicuous stroll across Charles Bridge, even stopping to grab pics of some of the landmark’s famed statues.
He reportedly ate at Prague fine dining establishments La Finestra in Cucina in Old Town and U Matěje in Dejvice.
Gibson also took a cruise on Prague’s Vltava river with boat captain to the stars Štěpán Rusnák; a photo of Gibson and Rusnák posted to social media was credited to Pavlína Němcová, who may or may not be the Czech model and actress.
This isn’t Gibson’s first visit to the Czech Republic. The actor previously attended the 2014 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, where he received a Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema.
Gibson later starred in the trailer for the 50th edition of the prestigious film festival.
Mel Gibson has been making something of a comeback in recent years with scene-stealing supporting roles in direct-to-streaming films such as Dangerous, starring Scott Eastwood, and Last Looks, with Charlie Hunnam.
The star can next be seen in Father Stu, where he plays the estranged father of Mark Wahlberg’s boxer-turned-priest. Released stateside in April, the film should hit local streaming services in the coming weeks.

Gibson was great in his limited screen time in The Continental. Not a huge fan of the John Wick movies and didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did, one of the streaming surprises of 2023.
Has Mr. Gibson ever filmed a movie in Prague?
