Julianne Moore, Patricia Clarkson, Billy Crudup Headed to KVIFF 2019

This morning, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival announced the lineup of stars and special guests slated to attend the 2019 edition of the famed film fest, which will run from Friday, June 28 through Saturday, July 6 in the Czech spa town.

Hollywood stars Julianne Moore and Billy Crudup are among the special guests that will be attending this year’s KVIFF, a lineup that also includes director Bart Freundlich (The Myth of Fingerprints, The Rebound).

Freundlich and Moore, who happen to be married, and will be bringing their latest collaboration to Karlovy Vary: After the Wedding, a remake of Susanne Bier’s 2006 film of the same title.

Moore, who won an Oscar for her role in the 2014 drama Still Alice after four nominations (for Boogie Nights, The End of the Affair, The Hours, and Far From Heaven), will be awarded a Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema at the KVIFF opening ceremony.

Billy Crudup, who stars alongside Moore and Michelle Williams in After the Wedding, will also be on hand at this year’s KVIFF to present the movie to audiences.

Patricia Clarkson, who won a Golden Globe for her role in last year’s Sharp Objects, will also be honored at Karlovy Vary this year: at the festival’s closing ceremony, she too will be presented with a Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema.

Clarkson will also present the film Driving License, directed by Isabel Coixet.

Returning to the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival this year will be Casey Affleck, who brought Ghost Story to the festival and picked up a President’s Award in 2017.

Affleck will bring his latest movie, Light of My Life, which he wrote, directed, and stars in alongside Elisabeth Moss. Light of My Life premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year.

Last year, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival welcomed stars including Tim Robbins, Anna Paquin, and Robert Pattinson, who was recently cast as the new Batman in a retooled series of DC films.

Iconic directors Barry Levinson and Richard Linklater were also present at last year’s festival.

In 2017, KVIFF brought Hollywood stars Jeremy Renner and Uma Thurman to the Czech Republic; Thurman would later call Prague “the most beautiful city…” while sailing down the Vltava.
