Summer Cinema Výstaviště Starts Tonight with a FREE Screening!

Summer cinema season in Prague is in full swing, and if you’re keen on checking out a movie under the stars in the Czech capital over the next few months, check out my full roundup on Prague’s 2018 summer cinema options here

The latest summer cinema to debut this year is Summer Cinema Výstaviště, which will screen the modern Czech classic Pelíšky tonight if the rain can hold off (note for all open-air cinemas in Prague: screenings can be called off at the last minute due to inclement weather, so always check with the venue before heading out.)

While operated in conjunction with Bio Oko last year and located in front of the Výstaviště exhibition grounds, this year the summer cinema has fallen under other auspices and moved across Výstaviště to the spacious Křižíkova fontána, famed for its nighttime fountain shows set to classical music.

The screening of Pelíšky tonight, June 13 at the Výstaviště summer cinema will be free of charge, and so will weekly screenings every Wednesday: next up on the schedule is Obecná škola on June 21 and  The Ice Mother on June 27.

Summer Cinema Výstaviště will operate from Wednesdays through Fridays, and general entry to films (except the free screenings on Wednesdays) is 99 CZK.

The venue also has some special Friday night presentations in store: on June 15, a sneak preview of the new comedy I Feel Pretty will be screened along with an accompanying program that includes some musical performances in advance of the film’s Czech release on June 21 (tickets: 250 CZK).

On Saturdays, Summer Cinema Výstaviště will present an all-day lineup of family events that includes theater and live music, and culminates with a summer cinema screening (350 CZK for the whole day).

Here’s the upcoming schedule for Výstaviště’s new summer cinema for the rest of June:

June 13: Pelíšky (in Czech)
June 14: Forrest Gump
June 15: I Feel Pretty (pre-premiere)
June 16: Jumanji (in Czech)

June 20: Obecná škola (in Czech)
June 21: The Imitation Game

June 24: Mamma Mia

June 27: The Ice Mother (in Czech)

More information can be found at the official website of the Výstaviště Exhibition Grounds.
