Whiskey Cavalier Picked Up by ABC, to Continue Shooting in Prague

Whiskey Cavalier, an hour-long comedy-drama that shot a pilot episode in Prague just weeks ago, has already been picked up by ABC for the 2018-2019 season. Further episodes will begin shooting in the immediate future.

Whiskey Cavalier stars Scott Foley (Scandal) stars as FBI Agent Will Chase alongside Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead) as CIA agent Francesca Trowbridge.

Together, they “lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny and heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics,” per the official synopsis.

The series will co-star Tyler James Williams (Dear White People), Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty), and Bollywood actor Vir Das as members of the team of spies.

The pilot episode for Whiskey Cavalier was shot in Prague in late March around the center of the city by the Můstek metro station, around streets including Národní, Jugmannova, Charvátova, and Vladislavova.

On Tuesday, ABC released a trailer for the series cut from the pilot episode, and eagle-eyed viewers will be able to spot some of the Czech capital in the background. Prague fills in for Moscow and other European locations in the pilot episode:

Foley, who was looking for a new home on TV after wrapping the popular Scandal following seven seasons, has now found a literal new home in the Czech Republic.

According to People, the star is moving to Prague alongside wife and actress Marika Domińczyk (Grey’s Anatomy) and their three young children. Domińczyk is originally of Polish descent.

“The show got picked up, so I’m moving my whole family to Prague,” the actor revealed yesterday on Live! with Kelly and Ryan.

“I’m excited for the adventure. There’s something great about picking up and trying something new, at least for a year or two.”

Whiskey Cavalier is expected to debut on ABC this autumn.

  1. nice pilot show but don’t just think some of us have not traveled. you cant cross the border directly to Nuremberg and dont say you are in Nuremberg when you are at the beer garden on the hill in Prague. i know, it’s t.v. and most people don’t care but really?

  2. I enjoyed this show, and it made great use of the Prague locations. Was sad to see it cancelled so soon. Showrunner David Hemingson went on write The Holdovers for Alexander Payne right after this, so at least something good came out of it.

  3. Such a good show… damn tragic that it got cancelled so early. And Lauren Cohan left the Walking Dead for this! Still waiting for justice for her and Scott Foley
