Catch the 2017 Oscars in Prague this Sunday at The Globe

The 89th annual academy awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater, will take place this Sunday, February 26, from 17:00 PST.

Here in Europe, that means the show begins at 2:30 in the morning, and will likely last until around 6:00 a.m.

Last year, Česká televize aired the Oscars live, with an poorly-received attempt at simultaneous translation, but they’re not trying it again this year. The show will be broadcast on local TV first at 20:20 on Monday, February 27.

But there’s at least one option in Prague for catching the Oscar ceremony live: popular expat bookstore and restaurant The Globe, which has been broadcasting the show live every year for the past decade-plus.

The Globe will stay open - and so will their kitchen - until the final awards are handed out in the wee hours of Monday morning.

More info can be found at their official website.
